A bespoke
treatment for your child
Our treatment is always tailored to the needs of each child. Our experience shows that a combination of medical treatment, lifestyle advice, knowledge and tools for both children and parents often gives the best results — and creates a safer everyday life for the whole family.
It is crucial to take care of headaches in children at an early age, as it can pose a significant burden already in childhood. Early intervention is therefore necessary to ensure that the child has the best possible quality of life and well-being.
For me, it's about being curious about the everyday life of the child and the family. I ask in to everything from sleep and routines to leisure and screen time, because the small details often reveal patterns that can help us understand the headache better.
Together with the family, we look at what can be adjusted in their everyday lives — often only small changes are needed to make a big difference.
Says Nina Szomlaiski, headache specialist and pediatrician specializing in headaches and migraines in children, adolescents and adults alike.

Untreated headaches can affect well-being
Untreated headaches aren't just about the pain itself — it can also affect your child's mental well-being and everyday life. At Hemi Headache Clinic, we work to break this negative spiral and to ensure:
- Less pain in everyday life
- Better well-being — both physically and mentally
- Increased control of symptoms
This is how we help your child
A typical course of treatment starts with a thorough preliminary examination (FUS). Here we map:
- Your child's symptoms and triggers
- The needs and everyday life of the child
- An accurate diagnosis
We know that younger children in particular find it difficult to put into words their pain. That's why we work closely with you as parents to map your child's behavior and understand its symptoms to find the best solution.
Not sure if you have migraines?
Too many people ignore the symptoms for too long without knowing if they have migraines. The first step is to find out if your symptoms are due to migraines.

Our treatment approach includes
1. Lifestyle changes and healthy habits
Sleep plays a crucial role in the treatment of headaches. Small changes such as fixed sleep rhythms and breaks in everyday life can make a big difference to your child's well-being.
2. Medical treatment
We offer both seizure medication and preventive treatment based on your child's needs. Here we ensure that it is always the parents or a responsible adult who administers the medication.
3. Headache diary
A valuable tool for identifying patterns and triggers in a child's headache. It helps us find the right treatment.
The child's perspective in focus
We meet the child at eye level and ensure that their needs are understood — even when they have difficulty describing their pain.
For older children and adolescents, treatment is often also about giving them insight and responsibility to manage their symptoms. We help create understanding and motivate active action in everyday life.
Follow-up consultations be individually planned to ensure the best possible treatment over time.
