Ajovy is used as a preventive treatment for migraines.
Ajovy has been developed specifically to prevent migraines and is approved for adults who have at least 4 seizures per month.
It is known that CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide), which is formed in our nervous system, plays an active role in a migraine attack.
Ajovy works by binding specifically to and blocking the activity of the CGRP molecule in the brain. This can decrease the number and strength of your migraine attacks.
Ajovy has a half-life of about 30 days.
Reaction around the injection site, skin itching.
You should not use Ajovy if you have certain forms of cardiovascular disease.
Ajovy must not be used by pregnant women and breast-feeding mothers.
You must have stopped taking Ajovy for at least 5 months before you try to get pregnant.

You need to inject 1 dose of 225 mg once every month (one pen).
You can also choose to take 3 doses of Ajovy, ie 675 mg once every 3 months.
We recommend that you take Ajovy out of the refrigerator about ½ hour before use.
Do NOT shake the Ajovy Pen.
Ajovy can be injected into either the upper arm, thigh or abdomen.
Check that the liquid in the pen is clear and without precipitate. Pull the cap off the pen and stretch or squeeze around the skin where you want to inject. The pen is placed at a 90 degree angle to the skin and pressed at the bottom. It is important that you maintain pressure for 5-10 seconds after the piston in the window has bottomed and has given a “click”.
Ajovy can be transported home at max 30°C and must be refrigerated within 24 hours.
After that, store Ajovy in a refrigerator at 2-8°C, protected from light. Does not tolerate frost.
Can be stored for up to 7 days at room temperature of max 30°C before use. Unused pens must then be discarded.
